Expunging his Maple Leafs tenure from memory is understandable for Toskala, whose forgettable stint with Toronto ended Jan. 31 when he was traded to the Ducks with winger Jason Blake for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
Toskala will serve as backup to Jonas Hiller, a scenario that probably won't last beyond this season because Toskala's contract will expire, and keeping him as a backup seems unrealistic.
