The rookie showed a veteran's calm and put the Colorado Avalanche into the NHL playoffs.
Matt Duchene, who turned 19 in January, scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Avalanche a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
The win, combined with the Calgary Flames' 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks, punched Colorado's playoff ticket.
